Sanlih E-Television

Established in 1991, Sanlih Television has an annual output of 4,000 hours of programming, of which 1,500 plays are for theatrical productions and is distributed to 30 countries on five continents. From traditional television stations, Sanlih pursues transformation and actively develops new media, while Vidol is the most typical attempt. Sanlih from the very beginning wanted to build an audio and video platform that meets the following requirements at AWS

Sanlih expected to build a video platform in AWS:

  • Platform which could handle heavy traffic loads
  • Instant video streaming service platform
  • On-demand video platform
  • Accelerate users’ experience
  • Easily deploy the version of the update app
  • Program version control

eCloudvalley helps to plan AWS service architectures that meet Vidol requirements and designs cloud-based security best practices that are fully AWS compliant.

In this case, the system planning is divided into four parts: APP system planning (Web Server, API Server and DB Server), APP notifying users (using SES and SNS), APP log keeping (using DynamoDB), APP acceleration User experience (with CloudFront and Elasticache), and easy deployment of updated APP versions (using Elastic Beanstalk).

Summary of benefits received

Through Vidol’s case, Sanlih successfully constructed an instant video streaming service platform capable of handling heavy traffic loads on AWS, and can watch on-demand programs on the platform. There is no idle machine at cost Instead, it has increased in response to different periods of time and downsized its machinery to effectively control costs and expenses. APP’s most important push service, Vidol successfully uses SNS to reach instant push messages to specific users. Lastly, the problem with the release is also solved by using Elastic Beanstalk. There is no longer a service stoppage time.
